Nick Blanchette grew up in northern Minnesota in the small town of Aitkin. He started his youth hockey playing for the C.I.A Grizzlies, which later combined associations to form into the Northern Lakes Lightning. When Nick got to high school, he made the NLL Varsity team as a sophomore and played three years of varsity hockey for the team. His senior year, Nick had the honor of being named captain and later went on to win the Hobey Baker Leadership Award given to seniors who best represent leadership and on ice performance.
After high school, Nick played three years of Junior A hockey in Breezy Point, Minnesota for the Breezy Point Northstars of the NA3HL. In his third season with the Stars, Nick was named team captain of his junior team as well. He was fortunate enough to extend his career into college for some time at Midland University.
Nick has spent the last three coaching the Minnesota Moose in the USPHL Premier league; leading the team to two National Tournament Appearances. In his words, “I’ve spent summers working with hockey camps and clinics, working with players from 8U/ Mite through Junior/ College players helping with their on-ice skills and skating, plus off ice workouts”. He is excited and looking forward to bringing his passion and teaching prowess to the MAP/FHIT team.
